The fate of Prince Uche Secondus as national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP was worsening on Wednesday after one of the party’s respected leaders and member of the Board of Trustees, BoT, Senator Joy Emodi defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Senator Emodi was received at the party’s national headquarters by Governor Mala Buni, the chairman of the APC caretaker committee.

The defection of Emodi  GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered may have been quickened by the alleged role of elements in the PDP leadership in the chaos that occurred in the Anambra State governorship primary.

Senator Emodi who is from Anambra State had during the governorship primary called for genuine reconciliation among the various tendencies towards resolving the crisis in the party.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that many party chieftains were peeved with the seeming detached effort of Prince Secondus in the crisis precipitated by his friend, Chief Chris Uba.

“Secondus does not hide the fact that Chris Uba is his friend and that they get along very well, but he was very, very quiet when his friend, Chris Uba set out to destroy the unanimity that the Anambra State chapter of the PDP had won,” a party chieftain privy to the developments told  GreenWhiteGreen GWG.

“How can he sit down and be detached when his friend, Chris Uba is destroying the party that he leads as national chairman,” the source said.

Before Senator Emodi defected, other PDP chieftains from the state had similarly walked away including Obiora Okonkwo, chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, who took second in the Anambra governorship primaries.

The defection of Senator Emodi especially to the APC has come as a shock to many given her long fidelity with the PDP, a platform she used to serve as Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly and two time senator representing Anambra North Senatorial District.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that PDP leaders have set up moves to consider their options on Secondus with a showdown meeting involving the governors and major stakeholders expected within days.
