Wike Secondus flogged

The embattled national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus got a lifeline on Thursday after party elders resolved to set up a committee to wade into the agitations against his leadership of the party

The resolution of the PDP Board of Trustees  GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports is expected to give party elders to ruminate over the issues that have been raised against Secondus.

The committee of elders expected to mediate will interface with both sides of the divide in the PDP on the Secondus matter and also with critical stakeholders including the governors.

There was some melodrama at the meeting of the PDP BoT when one of the acclaimed critics of Secondus, Governor Nyesom Wike sauntered into the hall midway as Secondus was giving his opening address.

Amazed journalists were subsequently informed that Wike was a member of the BoT.

Wike in his presentation according to informed sources was said to have denied having a personal beef with Secondus asserting that the issues were on the survival of the party.

Speaking to newsmen after the BoT meeting, former President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki said, “we agreed to set up this committee urgently and within the next 48 hours, they will meet and at the end of that meeting, the country will see where the direction the party is going. The commitment of everybody to attend that meeting and subject themselves to the decision of that meeting shows the interest of everybody.”

His predecessor as Senate President, Senator David Mark spoke in the same vein on the decision of the PDP BoT on the Secondus crisis, saying:

“The committee is made up of the governors, members of the BoT, members of the National Assembly, all the members of the National Working Committee, former governors, former ministers, so that they can holistically resolve the problems.

He assured that irrespective of the issues that the initiative will lead to a stronger PDP irrespective on the conseuqence on Secondus, saying “it will lead into providing a better environment to make us far more united and stronger as a party.

Mark also confirmed that Wike was a statutory member of the BoT.
