Shoemaker Arrested For Allegedly Killing Pepper Seller In Delta

A shoemaker identified as Akpoghene Idogo has been arrested by Delta police command for his alleged involvement in the murder of a pepper seller, Mrs Patience Komore, in Ugheli South of the state.

The acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Edafe Bright,  disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Warri.

Bright said the suspect aged 20, was nabbed on Friday in Kwale town by operatives of the Oleh police division.

“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Oleh division, SP Paul Oboware, following a tip-off on Aug. 6, led a combined team of police, vigilante and some community leaders to Kwale town, where the suspect was arrested.

“The suspect has been on the run after the alleged murder of the pepper seller alongside his friend, Simon,  that was earlier arrested,” he said.

The police spokesman said that efforts were ongoing to arrest the suspect, who contracted the alleged murder deal and paid them a sum of N100,000.

Green White Green (GWG) recalls Ms Patience Komone who was declared missing by her family until she was found dead in a bush at Umeh community of Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.

A suspect, a 17-year-old boy, was earlier arrested in connection with the death.

It was gathered that Umeh community youths irked by the incident immediately dispatched some youths in the community to investigate the incident and one Onoriode Simon Akpoavirhi was discovered to have been the last person seen with the deceased.

The community youths thereafter apprehended the suspect and interrogated him where he confessed to taking the woman to a pepper farm with his motorcycle under the guise of wanting to sell fresh pepper to her.

It was further learnt that the suspect confessed that he stole the deceased’s money after killing her to buy some musical instrument.

“The suspect confessed to Umeh community youths that he killed the woman. According to the suspect, he took the woman to a pepper farm in the bush to enable the woman buy fresh pepper directly from the farm not knowing that he had a different agenda.
