Buhari Under Fire As Images Of Katsina Cholera Patients Go Viral
Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown and it is no shock that President Muhammadu Buhari has come under fire over the cholera epidemic that is now ravaging the country including, the president’s home state, Katsina.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that cholera epidemic in the country has spread across several states leading to 1,178 deaths, the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC said on Monday, August 16, 2021.
The disclosure by the NCDC of the cholera epidemic in 23 states turned into an issue on Monday when the picture of patients being treated in the open field in a hospital in Mai`adua Local Government Area in Katsina State turned viral. The report by BBC Hausa service of the state of the hospital turned into an issue on the failure and abandonment of the health system in Nigeria by the nation’s leaders.
Several Nigerians went online to vent their feelings and expectedly, President Buhari who is from Katsina State being the incumbent leader of the country was the object of much fury by folks across tongue and tribe.
@tosintim vented “And you see the President’s daughter and sons trawling lavish millions of dollars on weddings and their own state has no standards hospital not even one. Buhari’s Government I greet you oooo”.
A man with the handle @fit_ur_ness reacted by writing “And your President’s frequent London for his health checkups. Our Doctors are travelling abroad and you tell me there’s hope?”
@menshaggy responded to @fit_ur_ness by writing “To think that this is the President’s State of origin…SMH”.
However @wess_fargo_ ruthlessly wrote “Them never see anything since they decide to separate themselves from the rest of Nigeria to fight for the country…Make dem suffer more n more … Ur President ur responsibility, sorry we can’t do anything”.
His comment wasn’t received well and it sparked up backlash as @micheal.bello.16 wrote “You are heartless. How can you say that to a sick child? May God Judge you according to your word”.
@chidoxflash wrote “To imagine that our so called President is from this State. Despite giving the North and the Northerners what is meant for all Nigerians, look at the level they are still found”.
Supporting @chidoxflash’s comment, @adapreneur wrote “@chidoflax am telling you, with all the power dragging they are the poorest”.
Frustatedly, @deezy_smart commented “To be honest Buhari is not an Hausa, it show clearly, he is a Fulani, he doesn’t care about anybody, Nigerians, don’t us make a mistake like this again…”.
Ethnical bias also formed the basis of comments as @flipfinessecreators wrote “Northerns are the most oppressed in Nigeria, yet so brain washed and will forever stan Bubu. BuBu is the best thing that happened to them. Talk about Stockholm syndrome at its peak”.
