The  Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State on Saturday expressed reservations over the process of the conduct of the Council Polls in the state saying that the voting machines were pre-programmed.

Speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Mr Abraham Alberah, during a press conference, it noted some anomalies.

The party said that by the rule of the game as stated by KADSIECOM law, there would be a print-out from each Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)  before the commencement of elections, which would indicate no figure

The party, however, alleged that judging from the first print-out of most polling units, it seemed that the machine had been tampered with.

It, therefore, called on the state’s electoral body to do the needful as stipulated by the law.

“We call on our supporters to remain calm and go ahead with the election by casting their vote where the EVMs are working well” the Kaduna PDP spokesman said.

In her reaction, Chairman of KADSIECOM, Mrs Saratu Audu-Dikko said that one of the major challenges faced was that some of the Presiding Officers had mistakenly tampered with the original setting of the time.

“We can not re-set the time until we get the factory cards, which are not available in all the Local Government Areas, as such, they had to wait until the machine time synchronizes with the actual election time,” she explained in response to the claims of the PDP in Kaduna State. (NAN)

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Kaduna State local government polls is the first time that the country is using a fully automated system in an election at any level of government.
