Omokri Stokes Debate On Virtues Of Virgins As Wives

Strong reactions have followed an admonition by social and political critic, Reno Omokri on the immense value of ladies preserving themselves for their husbands and marrying as virgins

Reno Omokri, a California based pastor more popularly known for his sharp criticism of the Muhammadu Buhari administration made the comment following criticisms on social media of a man who posted the blood stained bedsheet of his wife on their first day to prove that he married a virgin.

Many had criticised the man that the fact he married a virgin would not guarantee peace in his marriage.

But responding and deepening the debate, Reno Omokri said:

Those saying keeping virginity until marriage does not guarantee a happy marriage act as if being a prostitute guarantees a happy home. Virginity is honourable because it breeds intimacy. If you know you are her first and only you are more likely to cherish her!

Reno Omokri’s post added more heat to the debate with some insisting that virginity does not guarantee a happy marriage with some bearing witness to marriages that broke up despite some marrying as virgins.

There were some who also questioned the focus on female virginity while leaving the male out of scrutiny. Some also asked how it is possible to determine male virginity.

There were also some who went personal on Reon Omokri asking if he and his wife came into their marriage as virgins.
