Chief Ayiri Emami has been sacked as the Ologbotsere of Warri, the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse lll announced on Tuesday.

The announcement by the Olu at a ceremony in his palace came with a directive that no one should address or regard Chief Ayiri Emami with the title of Ologbotsere, a privileged and ranking position among the Olu’s inner cabinet.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the announcement was preceded by Chief Ayirii Emami’s opposition to the emergence of the former Prince Tsola Emiko as Olu with a campaign to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State and other traditional rulers to boycott what has now been regarded as one of the most colourful coronations of any traditional ruler in Nigeria.

On the day of the coronation on August 21, 2021, Chief Ayiri Emami was remarkably absent and was hundreds of kilometers away at the coronation of the emir of Bichi in Kano State.

The deposition of Chief Ayiri Emami was also steeped in the fact that he was absent on his assigned date for validation as Ologbotsere on September 4, 2021.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that ahead of the validation of the chiefs that the Olu had instructed that all Warri chiefs home and abroad must physically present themselves and excuses could only be by the express permission of the Olu.

Chief Ayiri Emami was, however, absent and no word on the reason for his absence was given.
