How Female Banker Foiled Robbery Operation Staged By Colleague

The Ogun State Police has given details of how a banker staged a robbery operation to dispossess his bank of N3 million cash and how the operation was frustrated by a female staff.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement of the operation staged on Tuesday at Abestone Microfinance Bank, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to him, the bank staff, Dare Olagoke was nabbed after allegedly arranging with an accomplice, Idowu Tunde, to rob him (Olagoke) and a female colleague of the sum of N3m belonging to the bank.

According to the police spokesman, Olagoke and a female colleague, Mary Agbejo, had gone to a commercial bank at Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta, to withdraw the N3 million.

The PPRO said that Tunde, after he was arrested with the toy gun opened up that the banker, Olagoke revealed to him that the bank had sent him and a colleague to withdraw N3m and that he (Tunde) should rob them of the money.

Continuing, on how the banker staged the robbery operation and how it was foiled by a female colleague, he said:

“He stated further that it was the same Dare Olagoke who gave him the toy pistol for the operation.

“He confessed further that while Olagoke and his colleague were in the bank, he (Tunde) had already hidden in their car, which was deliberately left opened by Olagoke in accordance with their plan.

“While they got into the car, Tunde explained that he came out suddenly from the backseat and pointed a gun at the lady who was in possession of the money.

“But the lady noticed that the gun did not look original, consequent upon which she dragged the gun with him and raised the alarm. It was the alarm that attracted people who pursued them and called the police.”
