Mikel Obi Becomes Free Agent, As Kuwait SC Terminates Contract
Kuwait Sporting Club have terminated the contract of former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi who joined the Gulf side from Stoke City in the summer transfer window.
Kuwait SC made the announcement via a post on Twitter on Thursday, stating the contract was mutually terminated without stating a reason why.
Mikel Obi had an initial one-year contract extension signed with the Potters in the English Championship, but terminated the deal to join Kuwait SC.
Mikel who is no stranger to contract issues, had his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor terminated after refusing to play due to the COVID-19 pandemic prior to joining Stoke City.
