Recall that the kidnappers had earlier demanded N15 million for the release of the two men.

However, the families of the clerics pleaded with the abductors, bringing about their receipt of N2.2 million before setting their victims free.

Confirming their release, an elder brother to one of the victims, Hussein Ibrahim said the money was contributed by family and friends.

He said, “They have been released on Tuesday after we gave them N2.2 million as ransom. They initially insisted on N15 million saying they were two people. But when we pleaded, at the end, they agreed to collect N2.2 million from us.”

The Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, could not be reached for his reaction as of the time of filing this report.
