Next Cash and Carry Looters

Security men have fenced off the Next Cash and Carry Superstore in Abuja after looters stormed the departmental store while it was in flames.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had earlier reported that the superstore arguably the largest in Abuja and said to belong to former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi went up in smoke early on Sunday morning.

Daily Trust reports that amid the confusion over the fire outbreak in the Next Cash and Carry superstore that looters came in the midst of the confusion to pillage the departmental store.

In a video widely circulated online, young persons were seen pushing carts which they used to move out the suspected stolen items.

Among the items seen taken away were different sizes of mattress, drinks and electronic devices.

The cause of the inferno is unknown but an eyewitness said a spark from one of the Christmas trees there ignited the inferno.

The fire was raging seriously when Daily Trust visited the scene around mid-day.

Firefighters have battling the inferno while security operatives have cordoned off the scene.

The looters who broke into the Next Cash and Carry premises did so before the arrival of security operatives and rescue officials.

It is unclear if there were casualties from the incident.
