Okowa Oghensivbe apologises

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Thursday, sacked his Executive Assistant on Communications, Latimore Oghenesivbe, for what was described as “manifest recklessness and insubordination,” following a facebook post titled Tribal Bigot.

The sack was contained in a letter dated December 29, 2021, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, and made available to journalists in Asaba. The sack came days after Latimore alleged that he had been sidelined from the governor by those he claimed had fenced a tribal covering over him.

In a Facebook titled, ‘Tribal Bigot’, the sacked aide had also complained that he got N50,000 and two bags of 25kg rice from the N25 million Governor Okowa reportedly gave to his media team.

But in the letter, the governor expressed displeasure over Oghenesivbe’s conduct, adding that “there has been manifest recklessness and insubordination”.

Mr. Ukah in the termination letter wrote:

I write to convey to you the displeasure of His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, over your conduct with respect to the performance of your duties wherein there has been manifest recklessness and insubordination. As this trend can no longer be tolerated, I regret to inform you that your service as Executive Assistant, Communication, is no more required and your appointment is hereby terminated. Accordingly, I am to request that you take necessary steps to hand over all government properties in your possession to the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Government House and Protocol forthwith.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the sacked aide severally cut controversy within the Okowa government even before his latest Tribal Bigot post.
