Pa Matthias Keyamo, father of the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN, has died at 83.

Pa Keyamo passed on peacefully at the age of 83 on Saturday, March 5th, 2022 in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta from where the family hails, the minister’s media aide, Tunde Moshood disclosed in a statement made available to GreenWhiteGreen GWG.

Born on August 23rd, 1938, in Erovie Quarters in Effurun, Delta State, Pa Matthias Keyamo was later raised in Kaduna and Ilaro, Ogun State where he met and married his wife, Mrs. Caroline Keyamo (nee Ogunjobi).

They immediately relocated to Ughelli in Delta State where he begat all his children, including the present Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN.

The late Mathias Keyamo would be remembered for his legacy through his children, notably being father to Festus, who in the past used the platform of the law to push for change in society, having notably been nurtured by one of Nigeria’s most reputable activist lawyers, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN.

At a time in 1997 when many deviant youths were pushing for the continuation of the Sani Abacha regime through the platform of Youths Earnestly Ask For Abacha, YEAA, Festus Keyamo mobilised youths under the platform of “Youth Against Misguided Youths” to fight the succession plot of the late Abacha.

Burial details of the late Matthias Keyamo will be announced later by the family, the statement added.
