FC Barcelona continued their fine run of form across all competitions by dumping Turkish giants Galatasaray S.K out of the UEFA Europa League with a 2-1 comeback win.

An impressive first-leg holdout at the Camp Nou poised Galatasaray to go all-out against the evening’s visitors, in a bid to continue their pursuit of a first European title in 22 years.

The first ten minutes were intense as both sides came close to scoring through Gomis for the home side and De Jong for Barcelona. However, Gala opened the scoring in the 28th minute via their captain Marcão who slotted home a sublime diving header to lift the roof in the stadium.

That joy was short lived as Pedri pulled one back for the away side with composure and precise finishing inside the area, to send the sides into the break level.

The traveling fans could not have wished for a better start to the second half as their new hero Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put them in front for the first time on the night with a tap-in from point-blank range, firing the Catalan giants to the quarterfinals of the Europa League.

The Blaugrana secured their sixth win in six games against Galatasaray with an inspired second half performance, condemning the Turkish outfit to a sixth straight loss against Spanish sides in two-legged ties.

Here are key facts as Barcelona beat Galatasaray 2-1;

• Pedri got his first ever goal in the UEFA Europa League to send Barcelona to their first quarterfinal appearance in the competition since their last coming before his birth.

• Barcelona are now unbeaten in their last 11 games across all competitions (8 wins  3 draws).

• Ferran Torres has now directly been involved in nine goals in 13 appearances for Barcelona since his move to the Spanish giants in January 2022.

• Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has now scored seven goals in his last seven appearances across all competitions for Barcelona. That’s as many as he managed in his last 19 games for Arsenal.
