Nollywood Veterans Rita Edochie, Chinwe Owoh Defend Junior Pope’s Wife Amid Controversy

Nollywood veterans Rita Edochie and Chinwe Owoh have made an emotional appeal to Nigerians to let Junior Pope’s wife, Jennifer Awele, mourn her husband in peace.

This comes amid controversy surrounding his funeral poster, which initially omitted “husband” from the obituary, sparking speculation about their marriage.

In a video of the funeral, Rita Edochie and Chinwe Owoh passionately defended Junior Pope’s wife, urging Nigerians to let her be. They emphasized that misunderstandings happen in every home and that she should be allowed to grieve quietly.

Rita Edochie questioned those who spread rumors of marital issues, stressing that even if there were problems, it’s not for the public to judge. She prayed for God to accept Junior Pope’s soul, describing him as a good man with no discrimination against others. She also urged him to protect his family from above and questioned those claiming he was murdered.

Chinwe Owoh added, “Leave Junior Pope’s wife alone! Every home has misunderstandings. Even if they had issues, let her bury her husband in peace.”

GWG.ng reports that the family had earlier clarified that they didn’t authorize the initial burial poster and later corrected it to include his wife.

Rita Edochie’s words resonated as she said, “Social media has done more harm than good. Instead of letting his wife rest, they’re stressing her again. Every mouth spreading foul information, God will judge you. Leave someone who is innocent to have peace of mind.”

The appeal from these Nollywood veterans seeks to put the focus back on mourning the loss of Junior Pope and supporting his family, rather than perpetuating controversy and speculation.
