One Dead As Petroleum Tanker Collides With Trailer

Fourteen passengers, including three children, were burnt to death in multiple accidents at the Kara long bridge in Ogun State stretch of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

One person has been reported dead on Wednesday after a trailer belonging to Julius Berger Construction Company collided with a petroleum tanker belonging to Mege Petroleum Company at Chiromawa town along Zaria road in Kano.

The incident which led to a fire outbreak that engulfed the two vehicles trapped one Aminu Dakatsalle, 40, a driver of the Julius Berger Construction Company, who was rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead.

Confirming the incident, the spokesman for the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Yusuf Abdullahi, said the petroleum tanker conveying about 60,000 liters of PMS (petrol) broke down along Zaria road.

He said the trailer belonging to the Julius Berger Construction Company with the number plate ENG 879 XB rammed into the petroleum tanker which ignited fire.

He added that the cause of the incident was as a result of loss of control and that the corpse of the deceased was handed over to the Divisional Police Officer of Garun Malam Police Division.
