In an indirect snub of the aspirations of Pastors Tunde Bakare and Yemi Osinbajo for the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential ticket, Pastor David Oyedepo has said that for him leaving his clerical call to be president of Nigeria would be a demotion.

Bishop Oyedepo, president of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, LFC, also known as Winners Chapel, spoke on Saturday a leadership summit of the church.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Bakare, who is the Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church and Vice-President Osinbajo who is also a senior pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG are among the 23 aspirants who have expressed interest in the presidential ticket of the APC.

The expression of interest forms and the nomination forms required of each is N100 million which Bakare and Osinbajo may have paid.

But speaking on Saturday during the leadership summit for his church workers, Oyedepo insisted that it’s too late for him to be the president of Nigeria.

According to the Bishop: “I believe in Nigeria and that is why I am still here, and still praying for Nigeria. But I  consider it a demotion if I am invited to become the president of Nigeria. I am called for a global impact. I saw this since 1984,” Vanguard quoted the clergy man as saying.

“Even the devil knows that you can’t be genuinely sold-out to serving God, and not standout in life.

“Since 1976, I have never missed a change of story” Oyedepo said.

“I was 19 years old when I prayed to God not to let me leave a village the way I met it. So I was 19 when I encountered destiny.

“I have not been tired going out for God since 1976”.

He urged members of the church to pray for grace to be released on them for global impact for Christ.

Oyedepo, however, did not reference the quest by the two APC presidential aspirants, Osinbajo and Bakare, to be president in his assertion. He, however, has in the past seriously rebuked the ruling APC government over its perceived failures.
