An Indian couple has dragged their son to court demanding that he and his wife either produce a grandchild within a year or pay the sum of $650,000 (N269,919,000).

Many generations including grandparents, nephews, aunts, and uncles commonly live in the same house in India.

However, in recent years, the tendency has shifted, with young couples wanting to live away from their parents or siblings, and ladies preferring to work rather than focus on having children and staying at home, as in the case of the Indian couple who are mentally disturbed because they are lonely

The parents, Sanjeev and Sadhana Prasad sued their son for retaliation after spending all of their savings ensuring he received an education and paying for a lavish wedding.

According to AFP, the couple wrote a plea filed with a court in Hardiwar. They wrote, “My son has been married for six years, but they have yet to have a child.” “At least having a grandchild to spend time with will make our pain bearable”.

As Times of India report has said,  the compensation they are seeking – 50 million rupees which include the expense of a five-star wedding event, a $80,000 luxury car, and paying for the couple’s honeymoon abroad.
