Blasphemy: Nigerians React As Mob Kills Vigilante In Abuja
The burning to death of a man in Abuja over the allegation of blasphemy on Saturday has raised concern among Nigerians troubled by the repeating act of extra-judicial killing of persons based on religion.
According to reports, in the early hours of Saturday, members of the vigilance group guarding the Timber shed market at the Federal Housing Estate in Abuja had attempted to arrest some residents wandering around the market.
Sources reveal that the residents begged the vigilance group to free them in the name of Allah but one of the vigilantes opposed and made what was considered a blasphemous statement.

A trader in the market who spoke to journalists on condition of anonymity confirmed that the vigilante was beaten and stoned before he was set ablaze.
This recent happening has stirred numerous reactions from social media users who did not waste time to condemn the barbaric act which they said was now becoming a pattern following the recent burning to death of Deborah Sunday, a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto.
