Kabara was prosecuted for blasphemous statements against Prophet Muhammad during some of his preaching sessions.

The religious leader, who spoke shortly after the judgment was passed, called for the immediate execution of the ruling, adding that he was ready to die an honourable death. He urged his supporters not to worry about his death because he will meet his creator in an honourable manner. Kabara said he would not beg the judge to tamper justice with mercy but called on the court to expedite action in executing the judgment.

The religious leader accused Sarki-Yola of distorting his evidence to favour the prosecutors.

Kabara told the judge: “I listened to how you twisted my defense. You turned all my evidence upside down.”

Sarki-Yola expressed conviction while delivering the judgment that the evidence tendered by the prosecuting counsels declared that they proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
