The Super Eagles of Nigeria confirmed their superiority over Sao Tome and Principe with a 10-0 thrashing at the Grand Stade D’Agadir in Morocco. Nigeria also recorded their biggest ever win in their history since the Eagles mauled Benin Republic 10-1 in 1959.

Star man Victor Osimhen also created a record of his own as he scored four times to match Rashidi Yekini’s feat in the 1991 7-1 win over Burkina Faso.

Osimhen opened the goal feast with a thumping header after good work down the left flank by starting captain, Moses Simon making it 1-0 inside the first ten minutes. Osimhen, always playing on the shoulder and caught offside on two previous runs, broke free in the 28th minute off a scooped Aina pass and laid on for Simon who scored the second. Two became three in the 43rd minute when Osimhen laid on for Moffi, who showed great feet to sidestep Nilton before powering home. It was the Lorient striker’s first goal for Nigeria in his fourth appearance.

The Eagles were quickly into their stride in the second half as Osimhen scored his second of the afternoon with a header from a cross by Lookman. Etebo netted a free kick, Lookman got his first goal for the Super Eagles and Osimhen completed his hat-trick to make it 8-0.

As if it wasn’t enough, the Napoli man scored his fourth of the game against the hapless Sao Tome team and handed a last minute penalty to substitute Emmanuel Dennis who completed the 10-0 rout to record Nigeria’s biggest ever victory.
