Pelumi Abegunde, the brother of Bamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old fashion designer, who was found dead nine days after boarding a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) in Lagos has cried out for justice.

Recall that the late Bamise, who mysteriously went missing on February 26, 2022, was reportedly found unclad and dead on March 7, 2022, on a street in Lagos.

According to Abegunde, in a petition which had long garnered over 5,000 signatures as of Thursday, he stated that there was foul play in the way the case was being handled.

He appeal to the Lagos State Government not to sweep the matter under the carpet but help to seek justice over his sister’s murder.

“Four months since the rape and murder of my sister, Bamise, the main culprit involved is still at large and our family suspects foul play. We may not have access to the people in high places like the perpetrators, but giving up is not an option,” he added.

Part of the petition reads, “We, the family of late Bamise Ayanwola, who died on February 26, 2022, after she was kidnapped in a BRT bus by a driver in the person of Nice Andrew Omininikoron and some other accomplices presently at large, are calling on the Lagos State Judiciary and the Lagos State Police Command to deliver justice in this matter.

“Our sister suffered so much in the hands of her kidnappers. Having carefully studied the pictures taken by eyewitnesses and seen her corpse at the morgue, it is our belief that she went through traumatic torture not forgetting that she was also gang-raped before they (the ritualists) finally carried out their primary assignment which is to kill her and make away with her blood samples and panties.

“We want justice without any cover-up whatsoever from the powers that be in government and we want to ensure that other women are not killed by ritualists in their prime.”
