Osun: Why Oyetola Is Yet To Congratulate Adeleke – Source

Fresh indications as to why Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State is yet to congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke who emerged victorious in the governorship election at the weekend were emerging on Monday.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that Adeleke shocked pundits at the weekend when he defeated Oyetola despite claims of performance on the part of the incumbent.

However, as at midday on Monday despite claims by independent observers of a fairly transparent election Oyetola who has been hailed as a gentleman was yet to congratulate the winner of the election.

Sources in Osogbo told GreenWhiteGreen GWG that the matter of accepting the outcome of the election was not in the hands of the governor.

“The governor did not sponsor himself, he has a party and it is the decision of the party to consider the process and make a response,” the source said.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that those around the governor are, however, not seeing the election as a defeat for the governor who they claim did not fail in governance.

“You can see that the PDP did not use the governor’s performance to campaign and all they were saying was insecurity and the economy and those are outside the scope of the state government.”

One source also admitted that the Rauf Aregbesola factor also worked against the governor inferring that the immediate past governor who had vowed that his successor would not get a second term worked against the party in the election.

“They took advantage of his gentleness,” the source said.
