Outrage Trails Murder Of Kidnapped Kaduna Catholic Priest

Nigerians are reacting with rage to the latest killing of a Catholic priest in Kaduna lamenting the silence of both the church and the government to what is believed to be a special attack on the clergy.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that two priests – Very Rev. Fr. John Mark Chietnum and Rev. Fr. Donatus Cleopas – were abducted on Friday, by bandits operating in the Kaduna area.

The duo were abducted from the rectory of Christ the King Catholic Church, Yadin Garu in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna where they were on an assignment.

In a statement by the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr Emmanuel Uchechukwu Okolo, he said while Chietnum was killed, Cleopas escaped from the kidnappers’ den.

According to him, the decomposing body of the priest was discovered on Tuesday.

The kidnapped priest was allegedly murdered on the same day he was abducted, a development that has further compounded the situation of Christian clerics in Kaduna State.

Reacting to the incident and considering the recent attacks on Catholic Priests in different parts of the country, social media users via their handles revolted against such inhuman act.
