62-Year-Old Herbalist Arrested For Raping 14-Year-Old Minor With Mental Disorder

The Adamawa State Police Command, has apprehended a 62-year-old herbalist, identified as Godwin Sanda for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl with mental disorder in the state.

The suspect, a resident of Zangun community in Numan Local Government Area, of Adamawa state was nabbed by police operatives on the 23rd July 2022 for the alleged offence after a report was lodged against him by the parents of the girl.

A statement by the Police public relations officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, made available to newsmen on Sunday, said “the suspect raped the minor that was brought to him for treatment”.

According to the police, the victim, who suffers from mental disorder, was taken to the suspect for treatment and the man advised her mother who brought her to return home pending time she will recover.

SP Nguroje, said “it was as a result of the mother’s absence for a period of five (5) days that the suspect used the opportunity and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.”

After raping her, the victim reportedly escaped from his house and returned to her parent’s house as a result of which her parents reported the matter to the police in Numan.”

“The suspect is undergoing investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following the order from the office of Commissioner of Police, CP S. K Akande,” SP Nguroje added.
