Keyamo spokesman
Festus Keyamo, SAN a mentee of rights activist, Gani Fawehinmi stirs controversy as spokesman of Bola Tinubu Campaign

Controversy was brewing at the weekend as the late legal luminary, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN, unarguably one of the most foremost civil rights activist of his generation was mentioned after one of his disciples, Olorogun Festus Keyamo, SAN was appointed spokesman of the Bola Tinubu Campaign organization.

The controversy arose as some saw it as illogical for Keyamo to speak for Tinubu, a man who as Lagos State governor was dragged to the courts by Fawehinmi over controversies arising from his credentials. The case was squashed upon the immunity pleaded by the former Lagos State governor turned All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that issues that arose from that controversy were partially swept aside after Tinubu in filing his nomination papers as APC presidential candidate left the controversial areas of his primary and secondary schools attended blank.

Keyamo who worked in Gani Fawehinmi’s chambers and took after the activism of the deceased lawyer in his earlier days had to the surprise of some rejoiced after his appointment as Tinubu’s spokesman.

Keyamo had played a similar role in the second term campaign of President Muhammadu Buhari. However, many reckon that Fawehinmi as a lawyer in the eighties did not find moral issues with Buhari as he did with Tinubu.

Keyamo had said:

reacting,

MELA OF ANAMBRA tweeting at @Lordm3la responded to Keyamo thus:

You’re a monumental disgrace to your mentor, Lt. Gani Fawehinmi. Great Gani always stood with the people no matter whose ox was gored. You should hide your face in shame.

It was a charge that brought mixed reactions. While some rushed to defend Keyamo, many others sided with the critic.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered the reactions:
