Manchester United In Relegation Zone After First 45 Minutes Of 2022/23 Season
By Emmanuel Aziken
Optimism in Old Trafford for a better season in 2022/23 season was turning to despair after the first 45 minutes in their opener against Brighton with Manchester United down by two goals and in relegation zone. At least as at the first half.
Though they have been in more possession and had more control of the ball, Brighton have been able to make a double at Manchester United through Paul Gross at the 30th and 39th minutes.
However, the statistics do not favour the home team who have been able to manage five shots compared to the 12 from the visitors.
Manchester United are playing without Cristano Ronaldo and after conceding the second goal, new manager, Erik ten Hag signalled on him to start warming up.
The match has now gone into half-time and in a show of rebuff, the home crowd booed as the players walked out of the pitch.
While Manchester United are out of the Champions League in the season that just commenced, the prospects for the team are dire as they are now for the first time in reckoning of the modern era in the relegation zone, at least as at half time.
Manchester United are at the 18th position, only above Nottingham Forest who are 19th and Southampton who are 20th.
In other games Leicester were leading at home against Brentford while West Ham and Manchester City are waiting for the delayed game.
GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that earlier on Saturday, Chelsea came into the season at Everton with a 1-0 defeat of the home team coached by Chelsea legend, Frank Lampard.
