Saka and Adeyemi Headline Nomination List For Kopa Trophy Award

Nigerian born Bukayo Saka and Karim Adeyemi are among the ten youngsters put forward by France Football in the list of nominees for the 2021/22 Kopa Trophy Award.

GWG reports that the Kopa Trophy Award would be given to the best young player in the 2021/22 campaign. The prestigious award was last won by Barcelona youngster Pedri and a few of Europe’s current biggest stars have all been recipients of the prize.

Erling Haaland, Paul Pogba and Lionel Messi to mention a few are amongst stars who won the award in their early years. There were several young players who took centre stage last season to announce themselves to world football, and there are a few notable mentions missing in the nomination list, but we take a look to appreciate them for their hard work and bravery; Emile Smith-Rowe, Take Kubo and Xavi Simons.

However, the nominees for the Golden Boy award this year are;

• Jude Bellingham (Dortmund)

• Bukayo Saka (Arsenal)

• Josko Gvardiol (RB Leipzig)

• Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich)

• Karim Adeyemi (Dortmund)

• Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen)

• Gavi (Barcelona)

• Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid)

• Nuno Mendes (PSG)

• Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern Munich)

Meanwhile, besides the nominations of Saka and Adeyemi for the 2021/22 Kopa Trophy Award, GWG reports that thousands of Chelsea players are signing a petition against referee Anthony Taylor after what many fans saw as his gaffes that led to the two goals scored by Tottenham Hotspurs in the premiership clash of last Sunday.
