Ismail Adewuyi, a 28-year-old herbalist, has been apprehended with the head and intestines of an unknown female corpse in Ede, Osun state, by men from the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service.

Adewuyi, it was discovered, had stormed the Muslim Cemetery in Oke Yidi in the early hours of Saturday, armed with various charms, exhumed a corpse, cut the head, and extracted its intestines.

However, while fleeing the scene of the crime, a member of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service who had suspected Adewuyi’s movements and laid an ambush arrested him.

During an interview with PUNCH Metro on Sunday, a source in Oke Yidi who preferred anonymity said the suspect told the hunters he was a herbalist while being interrogated.

“We heard the noise, and the few people who could go out saw hunters interrogating a suspect carrying a human head and intestines from a corpse that he exhumed at Muslim Cemetery, Oke Yidi, Ede,” the source said.

“The suspect was later surrendered to police.” Those who arrested him videotaped his confession. “The suspect is in police custody,” the source said.

When contacted, Osun Police Command spokesperson Yemisi Opalola confirmed the suspect’s arrest and said an investigation into the crime had begun.

“On Saturday around 01:25 am, a member of Nigeria Hunter in Ede arrested one Adewuyi Ismail, 28, of Oke-Ola Agbagudu, Ede and brought him to the station with unknown fresh female head and intestines,” Opalola said.

“Around 1:00 a.m., the suspect was apprehended at Muslim Cemetery, Oke Yidi, Abere road, Ede.” “An investigation is underway.”
