Abiola remand prison

Human rights activist, Prof Zainab Duke Abiola who allegedly assaulted her female police orderly over her refusal to carry out domestic menial jobs has been remanded in Suleja Prison.

The remand order was given by a Wuse Zone Six Magistrates’ court on Friday over the alleged assault that has got the police hierarchy in fury over the brutalization of the female orderly.

GWG reports that Prof Duke Abiola is also said to be a wife of the deceased winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, Bashorun MKO Abiola.

GWG reports that the police in its submission before the magistrate alleged that Duke grievously assaulted her female orderly last Tuesday after she refused to be used for domestic menial duties in the home of the professor.

The domestic duties according to the police are in breach of professional ethics which require orderlies to be restricted to professional duties and forbid them from carrying out menial and domestic chores for their principals.

The remand of Prof Duke Abiola in the less hospitable Suleja prison and not Kuje which is ofent used for politicians and highly placed individuals may indicate the fury of the police over the action of the professor following the bloodied condition of the female police orderly.
