The Rotimi Amaechi led political family in Rivers State inhabiting under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress, APC have been given another rude shock following the judgment of the Federal High Court nullifying all the primaries conducted by the mainstream of the party.

GWG.NG reports that for the second time in as many election sessions, the Amaechi led APC in Rivers State faces the prospects of not fielding candidates for the election.

In 2019, the APC lost out when it did not field candidates across Rivers State following a similar court judgment.

The present judgment given by the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, was at the instance of some supporters of Senator Magnus Abe who went to court over the conduct of the primaries with the claim that they were excluded in the delegates election.

Senator Abe following the emergence of an Amaechi ally, Tonye Cole as APC governorship candidate in Rivers had quietly migrated to the Social Democratic Party, SDP where he picked up the governorship ticket of the party while his supporters remaining in the party went to court.

GWG.NG reports that this is the second court disaster that the APC has had to face in as many weeks following the similar judgment that annulled the emergence of Senator Binani Aishatu as governorship candidate and barred the party from fielding a candidate for the governorship election in Adamawa State.
