Atiku in US

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has arrived Washington DC, United States, US for a series of meetings with American leaders including the influential Congressional Black Caucus, CBC.

GWG.NG reports that Atiku was received on arrival by former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Dino Melaye, Phrank Shuaibu, amongst other aides.

In the entourage of the PDP candidate are among others, the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Imo state governor Emeka Ihedioha, Senator Ehigie Uzamere and High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

The visit to the US the first in about four years has dismissed insinuations that the former Vice President has constraints on his entry into the world’s leading democracy. An aide in the travelling party told GWG.NG that Atiku for personal reasons mostly due to long traveling hours and the absence of any serious business to do in the US had not been frequenting the country.

Besides meeting with Nigerians in the country and PDP members Atiku is also expected to engage US State department officials and the CBC during his weeklong trip.

The PDP candidate is also expected to meet with top Nigerian business leaders based in the US and also young Nigerian professionals in the Diaspora.
