Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Wednesday, led five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors aligned to his group to meet with their Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed.

GWG.NG reports that the meeting between the Wike Group and Bala Mohammed came a day after the Bauchi governor met with Atiku Abubakar, apparently to iron out issues following a petition from him over the PDP presidential candidate’s alleged indiscretions towards him.

The plane, which conveyed the five governors to Bauchi touched down at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport around 1pm according to a Daily Trust report.

The visitors were received by Governor Mohammed. Shortly after exchange of pleasantries at the airport, they proceeded to Ramat House, venue of the meeting.

The G-5 governors have withdrawn support for Atiku, giving the resignation of Senator Iyioricha Ayu as National Chairman of the party as condition for peace to reign.

The letter from Bala Mohammed to Atiku had also threatened to withdraw support on account of what was claimed as the presidential candidate’s indifference towards him and alignment with his Bauchi State critics.

The threat from Bala Mohammed who is the Northeast Vice-Chairman of the Atiku Campaign was believed to have forced the meeting between the candidate and the Bauchi governor.

It is now believed that the Wike led G5 Governors may have visited Bala Mohammed to pinch him away from Atiku and further widen the crisis within the PDP.
