Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship candidate Pastor Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom State has been set free from arrest after a Magistrate Court in Wuse 5, Abuja struck out the case levelled against him.

GWG.ng reports that the court nullified the warrant of arrest issued against Pastor Umo Eno, after the court ruled that it erred in issuing the arrest warrant.

The court in a ruling on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 nullified the order on the claim that it was misled in issuing the initial arrest warrant against the PDP Governorship Candidate in Akwa Ibom State.

The court affirmed that it was misled by the applicant, one Edet Godwin into issuing the warrant of arrest.

The news of the arrest warrant had elicited controversies in Akwa Ibom State. While the oppositionists claimed that the arrest was another blow to the controversies trailing the candidature of Pastor Umo Eno, the supporters of the PDP candidate rebuffed the claim insisting in several chat forums that there was no case against him.

Pastor Umo Eno was anointed by the outgoing governor of the state, Mr Udom Emmanuel as his successor and has since then faced a series of controversies including the alleged warrant of arrest.

Reacting to the development on Wednesday, a PDP Pastor Umo Eno remains the untainted and authentic candidate of the PDP.
