1 Dead As Building Collapses In Lagos

A building under construction at 12 Aromire Avenue in Ikeja, opposite Dominos Pizza, partially collapsed on Wednesday evening, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) announced.

The collapse resulted in the death of an unidentified male welder.

The incident occurred at 6:45 pm and was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Femi Oke-Osanyintolu.

According to Dr Oke-Osanyintolu, the building was being worked on by unskilled laborers, which led to the collapse.

The building has since been cordoned off and officials from the Lagos State Building and Control Agency and the police have been notified for further action.

A post-disaster assessment conducted by LASEMA’s Response Team indicated that the building is stable and does not pose a threat to surrounding buildings.
