Six Men Arrested For Raping 12-year-Old Girl In Bauchi After Luring Her With N100

Six men have been detained by the Bauchi State Police Command for raping a 12-year-old girl in the Katagum Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, revealed this in a statement on Friday, January 27, 2023.

He said the suspects, who are between the ages of 40 and 50, confessed to knowing the girl sexually after luring her with gifts worth between N100 and N200.

The Lower Sharia Court in Yayu Town, Chinade District, and Katagum LGA referred the case on January 18, 2023, for a discreet inquiry involving a 12-year-old girl who had been raped several times, according to the statement.

“The SCID Gender Unit of the Bauchi State Police Command undertook a covert investigation. But the probe “directed to the following suspects, namely; Mustapha kawu, 40, Abubakar Bello, 50, Idriss Yakubu, 40, Nasiru Dalhatu, 40, Idris Sarkin Ruwa, 50, and Mustapha Kawu, 40, all of Yayu village, Katagum LGA,”

The suspects admitted that they had had sexual knowledge of the young girl and had lured her with financial gifts on various occasions worth between N100 and N200.

“All of the suspects admitted under questioning that they had sexual contact with the victim who was underage.”

“It is important for the general people to understand that rape is a criminal offense that also offends against humanity and morality. Rape is punishable under Section 283 of the Penal Code and Section 1(2a-c) of the VAPP ACT of Bauchi State.

“Throughout the investigation, the detectives of the Command found all the evidence and supporting details needed to build a solid case against each of the accused individuals.

“The culprits will face the full force of the law as justice will be done to the accused, the victim, and society at large,” said Police Commissioner CP Aminu Alhassan psc (+).
