Man In Custody After Allegedly Defiling 15-Year-Old Girl

A 40-year-old man, George Ukpong has been ordered to be detained in prison custody after he was accused of defiling a 15-year-old girl before a Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos State.

A police report alleged that the accused was on February 19, 2023, believed to have engaged in unlawful sexual activity with the victim in the Shasha region of the state, according to police prosecutor Raimi Idowu.

The crime committed is punishable under Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015, according to the prosecution.

The defendant was arraigned on Monday, February 20, on a one-count accusation of defilement by the police before Magistrate E. Kubenje who issued the remand order.

The charge read in part, “That you, George Ukpong, on February 19, 2023, at No 21 Jaiye Oba Street Bus Stop, Shasha, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did defile one Aishat Adam, 15, by having sexual intercourse with her and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

The defendant did not enter a plea before Magistrate E. Kubenje. The case was adjourned till March 22, 2023 for mention for the case of the man arraigned for allegedly defiling the 15-year-old girl
