Warn China Against Going To War With Taiwan – US

The US has warned China against using the cover of visits by US congressmen to Taiwan as justification for military action or war against the autonomous island.

The warning was given by U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman who said that all nations should urge Beijing to refrain from war over the island.

The visit by Nancy Pelosi, then-Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, to democratic Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its territory, last August shook up U.S.-China relations.

Since then, more American lawmakers have traveled to Taiwan, and rumors have been circulating that Republican Representative Kevin McCarthy, who assumed the position of House speaker in January, may do so soon.

Sherman added, “And we sincerely hope that the PRC (People’s Republic of China) does not use a member of Congress’ visit to Taiwan as a pretext for military action.”

Additionally, this month saw a further deterioration in ties between Washington and Beijing following the American military’s shooting down of a Chinese spy balloon that had crossed into American airspace.

The second-ranking diplomat at the State Department, Sherman, claimed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict had increased global food and energy insecurity as well as inflationary pressures.

The same would apply in the event of a conflict in the Taiwan Strait, according to Sherman. “Therefore, I implore all nations to inform the PRC that this affects me. My country and people are impacted by this. This is not a wise move.

With regard to China’s “no limits” alliance with Russia and its support for Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine, Sherman stated that Washington had “growing concern.”

Sherman added that the Ukrainians would deliver a strategic setback for Russian President Vladimir Putin, saying, “But what I would say to all of those who are supporting Russia, you’re going to end up with an albatross around your neck.”

Going forward, that will cause a lot of issues for those who are supporting this unholy invasion, she predicted.
