Breaking: PDP, Labour, ADC, Ask Yakubu To Step Down

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party and the African Democratic Congress, ADC have called on INEC chairman, Prof Mahmood Yakubu to step down from further superintending the ongoing election process on account of his alleged biases.

The three parties made the call at a joint press conference in Abuja where they passed a vote of no confidence on him as chairman of INEC.

They made the call at the press conference where a tape of Yakubu promising last November that the BVAS machine would be used during an interaction with some international pre-election observers.

Present at the press conference are the national chairmen of the three political parties, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, (PDP) Mr Julius Abure, (Labour Party) and Okey Nwosu, (ADC).

Meanwhile, the call on Yakubu to step down came as it was disclosed that INEC will resume the ongoing 2023 Presidential election results collation at 2pm.

The National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, disclosed this at the 2023 general election national collation centre in Abuja on Tuesday.

Okoye said that at the moment there were about five states ready at the moment, while about five other states where on their way to Abuja for presentation.

He said that the commission would like to wait and present about 10 states at a stretch.
