Nigerian comedian Ayo Makun, also known as AY, has recently shared that he had considered running for a political position under the Labour Party (LP) in Nigeria.

The comedian shared this on his social media page, stating that he was impressed by the party’s recent success in winning some seats in the House of Assembly, and that he would have been interested in running for a position under the party.

The Labour Party is one of the political parties in Nigeria, founded in 2002. Although it did not win the presidency, it has gained some success in winning seats in the House of Assembly. This recent success has been attributed to the influence of former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, who is the presidential candidate of the party.

He wrote: “Shebi I for just kuku contest for one position under Labour Party… Anyways, let me face my own hustle for Easter Sunday”.

Meanwhile AY also expressed his admiration and support for Peter Obi,  who lost in the just-concluded 2023 Nigerian presidential election.

Despite the defeat, AY expressed his pride in Peter Obi for his courage, ambition, and plans for a better Nigeria, urging him to continue with his genuine intentions for the country.

In his Instagram post, AY wrote, “From the very day you honoured my open invitation to speak with Nigerians concerning the 2023 elections, I became proud of you and what you represent. Till this very minute, you still make a lot of people feel so proud of your courage, handwork, ambition, and plans for a better Nigeria. Continue to be honest with your genuine intentions for our country, Nigeria. No matter what you do in your life. Just know that I will always be supporting you.”
