How Tony Nwoye Defeated Oduah, Obiano In Anambra North – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has finally confirmed Dr Tony Nwoye as winner of the Anambra North Senatorial District election having defeated the incumbent, Senator Stella Oduah and the immediate past First Lady of the state, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano for the seat.

The returning officer, Kingsley Ubaoji made the declaration on Friday after issues concerning Ogbaru Local Government Area were resolved.

According to the declaration, Dr Nwoye who flew the ticket of Labour Party polled 94,779 votes putting the incumbent, Senator Oduah who flew the ticket of the PDP in the second place at 50,146 and former First Lady Obiano who was the candidate of APGA at third place 48,212.

The APC candidate, Ifeyinwa Anazonwu was a distant fifth with 2718 below the YPP candidate Julius Okoye who was fourth at 4,905 votes.

GWG.ng reports that Nwoye a former national president of the National Association of Nigerian Students coasted to victory upon his popularity among the electorate having been a grassroots political actor with impact across the senatorial district that has been his base and from where he has launched at least two major governorship election campaigns on the platform of the major political parties in the state.
