Stop Policing Women’s Wombs – Lydia Forson Attacks Womb Watchers

Ghanaian actress and scriptwriter, Lydia Forson, has spoken out against a Twitter user who asked her to carry a child in her womb, regardless of marriage, to carry on her legacy.

In a private message to Forson’s inbox, the Twitter user, who called himself or herself a “huge fan” of the actress, professed love and urged her to have at least one child for the world’s sake.

Forson took to her social media page to share a screenshot of the private message, cautioning people against policing women’s wombs.

The womb watcher wrote:

“Lady Lydia. I’m a huge fun of you. Infact I

love you. Please l’m not in your dm to stress you. You are a woman of substance and I would love to see you have at least a child to carry on your legacy. You can decide not to marry, but please give the world at least one child. Please. I love you. Please take care”.

Responding, Lydia Forson pointed out that this is not love and that it is wrong to be policing women’s wombs.

“I’m only sharing this here so people who send/say this daily understand that this is NOT love. Love will have the emotional intelligence to know that babies are NOT bought on Amazon; nor do they guarantee your legacy lives on. Stop policing women’s wombs”, she wrote on Twitter.

The actress pointed out that this kind of behavior is not love and that babies cannot be bought on Amazon, nor do they guarantee a legacy.

Forson’s statement on Twitter has sparked a conversation about the issue of policing women’s bodies and the pressure society puts on women to have children.

The actress’s followers have praised her for standing up against the culture of womb watching, which is prevalent in many African societies.
