Lagos Guber: PDP Elders Pass Vote Of Confidence On Bode George, Warns Jandor Against Further Attacks

Some elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who rose in defense of the party’s former Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, affirming him as the party’s leader in the state have warned the party’s governorship candidate in Lagos State, Abdul-Aziz Olajide Adediran (Jandor).

Jandor while criticizing Bode George, said he (George) had never supported a PDP governorship candidate since 1999.

George, who backed Labour Party (LP) candidate Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in the March 18 governorship election, said he had no regrets.

Elders in the PDP, however, who appeared dissatisfied with Jandor’s confrontation, warned him to refrain from any form of disrespect.

The elders made the statement following a vote of confidence in Chief Olabode George as the undisputed leader of the PDP in Lagos over the weekend.

The elders are a former Deputy Governor, Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele; a former National Secretary of the party, Dr Charles Akintoye; a retired Permanent Secretary, Dr Layi Ogunbambi; Jandor’s Campaign Director General, Dr Seye Dairo – who resigned from his position on the eve of the election – and 18 others.

In the communique, the elders warned Jandor not to further disparage the party’s leaders and elders.

The communique reads in part:

We recognise the fact that as a new member of the party, Mr Adediran may not be conversant with the culture, traditions and provisions of the party’s constitution, hence we admonish him to conduct himself in conformity with the cultures and norms of the party, failure of which would leave the party with no other choice than to invoke appropriate disciplinary measures against him.
