The chairman of the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Professor Adeolu Akande has congratulated the management, staff, and students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso on the institution’s 33rd anniversary.

Akande lauded the institution in a statement he personally signed on Thursday in Ibadan.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that LAUTECH was established on April 23, 1990 under the old Oyo State with the name Oyo State University of Technology, Ogbomoso (OSUTECH).

NAN recalls that the name was changed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso (LAUTECH) upon the creation of Osun  out of the Old Oyo state in 1991.

He said that LAUTECH had proved to the world,  the essence of her establishment 33 years ago, describing the institution as a pride to Oyo state and Nigeria.

Akande recalled that the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), in its 2021 ranking, rated LAUTECH as the best state university in Nigeria.

“The ranking of LAUTECH as the best state university by NUC  in 2021 did not come on a platter of gold.

“LAUTECH’s attainment of excellence is as a result of unrelenting efforts, sacrifices by the faculty, non-academic staff and students of the institution.

“It is a result of painstaking collective efforts to sustain the vision of the founding fathers of the institution. I enjoin you all to work harder to stay at the top,” he said.

The NCC boss, who is an alumnus of the University of Ibadan, also commended the alumni and friends of the university for their contributions to the growth of the university.

He said that LAUTECH had been particularly blessed with many alumni who had worked tirelessly for the progress of the institution.

Akande congratulated the university for the veracity of many of his alumni who had distinguished themselves across the world.

“Now that the institution is solely owned by Oyo state, I urge the management to continue to raise the bar and ensure standards were maintained in the ivory tower,” he said. (NAN)
