Gbajabiamila appointment

News reports alleging the appointment of Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu have been debunked as fake.

The reported source of the news, Olanrewaju-Smart Wasiu, Chief of Staff to Speaker Gbajabiamila, denied the reports credited to him by several news sources.

He denied ever making the assertion.

Going to his Facebook page on Thursday, Wasiu said “Fake news is a monster that must be curbed. Kindly ignore any fake news quoting this account for posting about any political appointment. Nothing of such was ever posted here”.

GWG.ng reports that three days after he took office, President Tinubu is yet to make the major appointments of personal and official staff to work with him.

The report of Gbajabiamila being appointed as Chief of Staff came after another personal and political associate, Dele Alake was also erroneously in some media outlets (Not GWG.ng) to have been appointed as the presidential spokesman.

That report was also confirmed to be untrue despite the First Daughter, Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo confirming it on her twitter page.

Gbajabiamila and another associate of Tinubu’s, James Faleke have been in the news as the major contenders for the position of Chief of Staff in the new administration. Interestingly, both men are members of the House of Representatives with strong ties and loyalty to the new president.

There are now indications that the fake report engineered about the alleged appointment of Gbajabiamila may have been inspired by his detractors who want to put him out of contention for the prized job.
