A man (name withheld) from Dorayi Quarters in Kano State’s Gwale LGA has been remanded by a Sharia court for allegedly having an affair with his neighbour’s wife.

The man was charged with taking the wife out on dates while her husband was away and with trying to persuade her to leave her spouse for him.

During the court hearings, the police prosecution attorney informed the judge that the husband divorced his wife after he became aware of their relationship.

However, he said that following the divorce, the suspect granted the ex-wife a room in his home to store her belongings. This sparked suspicion, and the ex-husband reported the event to the police.

The defendant entered a not-guilty plea after hearing the charge arising from the allegation that he had an affair with his neighbour’s wife.

After ordering the defendant’s remand, the Khadi, Sani Tanimu Sani Hausawa, stated that the defendant may be admitted on bail provided he brought someone to stand in for him, and the case was postponed to July 27, 2023.

Meanwhile, substantial evidence of the allegation of the suspect’s involvement in an affair with his neigbour’s wife has yet to be deposed before the court.
