The Senate has just confirmed 45 of the 48 ministerial nominees sent to it by President Bola Tinubu with three of the nominees including Mallam Nasir El-Rufai not cleared.

Others not cleared were Ms Stella Okotete from Delta State and Senator Abubakar Sani from Taraba State. GWG.ng reports that they were not cleared on account of security concerns said to bother on National Security.

Information on the particular security reasons affecting the three were not immediately available to GWG.ng

El-Rufai had performed brilliantly during his appearance before the Senate during which he claimed that the president had requested him to come and manage the country’s power sector.

Okotete, GWG.ng reports, faced serious opposition from the Delta South Senatorial District from All Progressives Congress, APC stakeholders who have been in fury over her nomination on the claim that itis the turn of the Southern senatorial district to produce the next minister from the state.

GWG.ng is yet to unravel reasons why Senator Sani Abubakar who is said to be a long-standing political associate of President Tinubu was not confirmed.

The three who were not confirmed GWG.ng sources disclosed followed security reports by two of the leading security agencies of the country that were read to the Senators during the closed-door session.

The confirmation of the nominees was done at the committee of the whole following which the Senate resolved into plenary where the 45 nominees were confirmed with the notable exceptions of El-Rufai, Okotete, and Senator Sani Abubakar.
