After waiting more than 12 hours for the news to sink in that the Senate did not confirm Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a minister, one of his most voluble critics, Senator Shehu Sani has finally opened up and expectedly mocked the former governor of Kaduna State over the snub.

While Shehu Sani was hailed by other members of the El-Rufai hate party, supporters led by the former governor’s son, Bello El-Rufai have refused to keep mum.

GWG.ng reports that El-Rufai was shockingly dropped by the Senate over alleged security concerns by the Senate when it cleared 45 of the 48 ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu. The snub was despite the claim by the former governor that he had been invited by the president to handle the power sector.

Senator Shehu Sani who has a long-running political battle with El-Rufai had earlier warned that the former governor would be a bad influence on the federal cabinet.

About 12 hours after the news sank in, Senator Sani two hours before midday on Tuesday took to his Twitter handle to respond to the Senate snub of El-Rufai

Senator Shehu Sani’s vicious comment was immediately lapped up by other critics and condemned by supporters of the former governor.

GWG.ng reports that though El-Rufai is yet to make a public reaction to the snub, his son, Bello El-Rufai, the member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives was quick to retweet a denunciation of the tweet of Senator Shehu Sani

He retweeted thus:

Meanwhile, conspiracy theories as to why El-Rufai was rejected by the Senate despite his outstanding performance during the Senate confirmation hearings are continuing to buzz with suggestions ranging from national security to assertions that his nomination was a set-up to humiliate him despite his leading role in mobilizing support for Tinubu in the North.
