The body of a man who jumped into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge in Lagos on Tuesday has been recovered but with it, a new puzzle over the identity of the victim or the reason for the man’s action.

GWG.ng had reported that the yet-to-be-identified man had on Tuesday afternoon jumped from the bridge joining two of the most affluent areas of Lagos into the adjoining lagoon.

Confirmation of the recovery of the body of the man was broken by The Punch in a report on Thursday morning following a terse message sent to the newspaper by the Head, Public Education of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, Amodu Shakiru.

“Body from Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge recovered dead. Details soon, please,” he wrote in a terse statement sent to The PUNCH.

The apparent suicide mission by the man has come in the wake of increasing difficulties in the land with many people being pushed to the edge over the challenges that have trailed the removal of fuel subsidy among others.

GWG.ng reports that the lack of identity of the man who jumped into the lagoon from the Lekki-Ikoyi bridge has caused concern as no one has as yet been able to trace his circumstances leaving a puzzle for the authorities.
