Nigerians were reacting albeit in different tones on Saturday as the country’s immediate past leader, President Muhammadu Buhari mourned the recent death of 28 soldiers in the hands of bandits in Niger State.

GWG.ng reports that the message from Buhari to mourn the death of the soldiers was passed in a tweet which was also the fourth time since he left office that he would use the social media platform.

In a message articulated by Garba Shehu who served as his Special Assistant on Media, President Buhari expressed hope that the death of the soldiers would not be in vain.

President @MBuhari expressed his anguish over the death of the several soldiers who were killed in the ambush, and a subsequent helicopter crash in Niger State.

“I am saddened by the helicopter accident, following the tragic ambush in which we have lost our brave army personnel. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope those injured recover at the earliest.

“My heartfelt condolences to the President, @officialABAT, the Armed Forces of the Federation and the families of the deceased.

“With the soldier-discipline in our troops, it is a matter of time before they overcome,” the former President said.

Nigerians who had not seen much of their former leader were quick to react as Buhari passed his message to mourn the dead soldiers.
